Today we started the new High Quality conversion service of Video2mp3. For some time YouTube offers you HQ videos: Just add &fmt=18 to the YouTube URL (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eDX3lX6dII&fmt=18). This works also when there is no HQ button at the video player! Besides the video quality also the audio quality is much better (sample rate 44100 instead of 22500).
To get mp3s with better quality we added this method to our conversion service, just select “High Quality” at the converter page. It takes a little bit more time to convert, because the video is much bigger and we have to convert the audio stream from AAC into MP3, but it ends in a good quality 128k-MP3.

if you select “standard quality” you get a 64k-mp3… but quality is not the best

The quality is still not the best like when I added fmt=18 to the end of the video’s URL, download the video using Firefox’s DownloadHelper or FlashGot and then convert the video file to MP3 using WinFF.

i can’t change the bit rate to 256. other than that, pretty good.
Couldn’t you make an option to “keep” the audio format the way it is, instead of converting it to another format “MP3″, because in conversion, the file loses some of its quality
Didn’t you think of converting the file into “ogg” Vorbis?
do you can give the option to download the original AAC stream from file? (without a new mp3 lossy compression over)
and, a second sugestion, give a option to people get the audio in AAC 24kbps, for dialup and slow internet connections users, AAC 24kbps would be perfect for inline play or download in dialup.

Hi – would just like to say that 128K mp3 isn’t really ideal when you’re talking about downloading high quality audio. Even 192k variable bit rate would be better with minimal impact on size and therefor download time.
either way the vid i’m downloading has crap sound, so it doesn’t affect me this time …. this time
