Frequently Asked Questions
Is this service free?
Yes, Video2mp3 converts YouTube and other FLV videos to MP3 files absolutely free. We are able to do this by presenting advertisements to you during your visit, and would love it if you supported the advertisers!
How long does it take to convert a video?
The time it takes to convert videos to MP3 depends on many factors, but the primary considerations are the length of the video and the quality of the audio selected for the conversion. A normal video that is about 4 minutes long will take approximately 2 minutes to convert.
Why do i get a "Grabbing failed" error?
While we successfully convert millions of videos each month, we sometimes encounter errors along the way. Our developers are alerted on conversion errors and we do our best to fix any real issues as quickly as possible. Sometimes you should just try the conversion again and it may work. If it doesn’t, there may be another issue like the video not being available in every country so we may not be able to convert it.
I selected the high quality option but the audio in the MP3 is poor. Why?
Our advanced conversion software strips the audio out of the video that is provided. If the video has low quality audio then the converted MP3 will also have low quality audio, even if you select high quality. Sometimes you can find other versions of the video on YouTube or other video sites. You should always try and select the best possible version of the video and that way you will get the best possible Mp3 file.
Why did I get an error message saying my conversion failed while converting a video?
There are many reasons why this happens and most of them are, unfortunately, out of our control. One of the most common reasons is that the host website (for example, YouTube, could have stopped sending us information and thus the conversion failed. The best thing to do is refresh your browser and attempt to convert the video again. If this fails you can try selecting a different version of the video and try your conversion again.
Why is the site taking so long to respond?
We’re not kidding when we say we are the premiere video to MP3 conversion site on the Internet. At our peak times, particularly weekends, things just slow down a bit due to the volume of conversions taking place. Although we have many dedicated servers dedicated to processing videos, sometimes the demand is so high that the site can be a little slow for some users. We suggest trying your conversion at an off peak time or later in the evening, or consider subscribing to Video2mp3 so your conversions are prioritized to the top of the queue. Subscriptions also remove many of the advertisements on the site, and frankly, help us pay our bills and add additional processing servers so you can convert that vid to MP3 in short order!
To where are my files downloaded?
When a file is converted and uploaded from our servers to your personal computer, the download destination is completely out of our control. You should check the download location that is set inside your browser preferences to determine the actual location. Chances are that it's either set to your desktop or to the Downloads directory in your home folder.
Can I really trust the Javelin download or will it harm my computer?
Great question with a simple, honest answer: You can absolutely trust the Javelin download. It does not contain any malware, spyware, or anything that is going to harm your computer, slow your computer down, or tell us (or anyone else for that matter) what you are doing. We don't like the warnings popping up either and are actually working on getting the download “signed” so these annoying messages go away. But, we had to implement Javelin quickly to help us convert a much higher number of videos than our competitors do.
